REFLECTIONS ON MY DEVELOPMENT DURING THE COURSE "TALKING TO PEOPLE" DUBLIN SUMMER 2019 PART ONE

Date: 22/07/2019

Today, I have found out the depth of the Celtic influence in a lot of aspects of the Irish culture, in both, past and present although in the first moment was really difficult for me to follow the thread of the first presentation about Irish history.

Once in the class with the group my understanding started to wake up and I was quite comfortable speaking in front of my classmates and the teacher.

This day, the most noticeable fact was the proposal for a change in the attendance of the course from the first ‘Activate your English for teaching (B1+, B2) to ‘Talking to people’. I accepted the proposal.

The most of my classmates are English teacher so I am delighted to be with them because I can learn a lot from their perfect English through the common activities and the work in class.

We have implement the ‘jigsaw’ method for the work in class. I think it could be a good idea to implement it too with my students for the contents of the bilingual classes.

We were taught about the Inquiry based learning. It is a very interesting methodology to apply in my classes where I am trying to encourage my students to be more autonomous in their works but, maybe something more interesting than this, were the themes proposed for our “Inquiry works”

I would like to propose the same issues in the village where I teach as part of the dissemination of our Erasmus projects. Making our statues talk or the proposal and promotion of a book in our village could work.
